The Food Dialogue - Sustainable Innovation

Whenever I come across biofuels, bioplastics , the first argument that would crop up is, its going to hit the already strained food shortage.
But the reality, in places like India and the rest of the third world is, the farmers are not able to produce in the first place, and whatever is produced, quite a significant portion of it is lost due to several reasons.

What is probably required is innovative thinking from the stake holders in the biofuel and other bio industries. There is a huge opportunity lurking in there, which would be socially beneficial and a significant advantage to the global oil crisis.

The more we can make biofuels from waste or sources that do not affect crops consumed by humans or animals (i.e. sugar cane waste, algae, etc.), the better we will all be.
